According to emode.com, I'm a balanced brain, creative and analytical pug
with a career personality type of ISTJ. They say I'm an observer and at work I'm a Border Collie!

Since I'm from the land of haggis, whisky, golf courses & the Lochness monster, I have some interest in a couple of those things.

I am quite partial to the really peaty Islay whiskies. There is nothing like a small glass (straight up) on a cold rainy day - and there are a lot of them in Scotland! A lot of people in the states prefer Macallan, but I just don't think it has the depth of taste that Laphroaig has.

I'm a huge fan of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, his style epitomizes Glasgow style. In my stained glass I try to incorporate some of his style and clean lines.
More recently I've started fusing glass - I love having more tools than most men :-)
I sell my "Prizmatic" glass online and think of it as training for retirement...this is something I could do to keep me happy and occupied.

I used to do a lot of cycling in high school and then just stopped. A few years ago I got in to mountain biking, but missed the speed! In 2001 I invested in a Cannondale road bike and haven't looked back since. In 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005 I rode the MS 150, a two-day bike tour for Multiple Sclerosis. It's a good way to get fit and raise money for a good cause.

In the early chapters of my memoirs I will write about my career as a research scientist. After getting two degrees in Biochemistry and working two postdocs I got totally frustrated by my boss's fear of technology. That was in 1996 and I was eager to use online collaborations and explore the uses of the Internet. My boss had other ideas and so in November 1996 I retired from medical research and went to work on the Internet.

Today a lot of my work involves managing the creation of websites, online training, CD ROMs, video, print, tradeshows and general corporate marketing. It's not such a leap from science, the organization and logic are very similar, and you never know, one day I may get to manage a biotech/medical marketing project!
